So, I said I’d update everyone on Daniel’s experience auditioning for choir.
He did wonderfully. He was nervous: he wouldn’t fill out the required forms in his own handwriting because he was afraid to make a mistake. I was impressed with his poise and confidence, and he described the whole experience as “scary, but fun!!”
The end result? He’s in! Now, as any parent who has shepherded a child through after-school activities, particularly one requiring practice and commitment, I know that this is when the fun REALLY begins. Remind me of how excited I am at this moment when we’re fighting downtown traffic to get from his school to rehearsals. In February. In a snowstorm.
Or the first time I remind him to practice. Or the second time. Or the third.
I hope he’s as proud of himself, as I am of him.
