This was in my copy of The Horn Book this month, and I love it. A group of children’s authors pooled their money to pay for print ads that call for daring in children’s publishing.
As the editor of The Horn Book points out, this proclamation need not apply to picture books alone.; it can apply to all kids’ books.
This week, 4 mothers will be writing about our favourite children’s books that give us something other than predictable sweetness and light.
Please join the conversation and tell us about your favourite picture books and books for kids that resist convention. We love to get your comments, and I, for one, have shopped for books and dinner on the basis of them!
