Chocolate Peanut Butter Drizzlecorn. Yup, It’s THAT Good!

You’ve done it!  You’ve just survived the first week of school.  Now it’s time to celebrate. . . and you can forget the wine.
Popcorn, Indiana has just launched their newest and in my opinion, their most yummy treat yet . . . Chocolate Peanut Butter Drizzlecorn.
We’ve told you before that we get sent treats, products and books all of the time to sample and try out but we only write about these things unless we truly love them or think our readers will love them.
Well this time I am telling you to step away from your computer, put down your hand-held device and run to your nearest grocer to pick up Popcorn, Indiana’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Drizzlecorn.  I love this stuff and I bet you will too!
The chocolate and peanut butter balance nicely with the crunchy, lightly salted kettle-popped corn.  I opened the bag expecting to nibble on a few kernels but then the hounds, err boys, whom could practically smell the deliciousness and sense my sheer elation descended on the open bag like a pack of starving wolves.  Within minutes the bag was empty and we were licking chocolately, peanut butter from our fingers.
This hand-crafted popcorn contains nothing artificial or high fructose corn syrup and at 180 calories for 1 1/2 cups you won’t feel too guilty about indulging in this delectable treat.
Unless you eat the entire bag.  Yourself.

Going Bananas!

imgres-2Confession:  We have treats in our house.  Lots of them.  Actually we have a treat bucket and once a day the kids can choose a treat.  The bucket contains everything from gum to chocolate eggs to granola bars.

I am a firm believer in the 80/20 rule and I don’t want the boys to grow up having an unhealthy relationship with sugar.

Occasionally the treat bucket spills over into the freezer.

Knowing their love for all things monkey, the boys’ aunt gave them a box of Nestle Peelin’ Pops to add to the treat selection and it’s safe to say that they went bananas! (I am sorry, but I just had to!)

Have you seen these?  The gummy peel folds back just like a real banana to reveal a frozen vanilla centre, which they gobbled down.   What I like most about them is the size – perfect for little hands and not too much of a good thing.

It’s a messy indulgence so consider yourself warned but they’re lots of fun on a hot summer day.

The Perfect Summer Treat!

I love the summer.  After spending much of the year indoors and swaddled in parkas and such, it’s nice to feel the warm breeze on bare legs and leisurely walk the neighbourhood streets.

When you live in a colder climate, the minute the weather starts to turn, people take to the streets, patios become the site of crowded socials and even a few eager-beavers don their summer footwear*.

The other thing about summer that makes me smile is ice cream.  I am a firm believer that ice cream should be enjoyed year round.  My university roommate and I could easily take down a tub at one sitting – at any given moment.  (As an aside: we also ate more peanut butter cups at Halloween than anyone I have ever known.)

Alas, my metabolism seems to forget that ice cream was my first love.  If you are like me and love ice cream (but it’s not loving you like it used to) fear not . . . I have discovered the BEST TREAT OF SUMMER 2011!

Nestle has come out with a 110 calorie mini-drumstick in a variety of flavors including . . .cookie dough!

What makes this the perfect treat, aside from the ridiculously low calorie count and how tasty they are, is that it’s ideal for sharing with your kids.

The mini cone is perfect for little hands to wrap around, the slighter portion is perfect for little tummies and the smaller than-a-trip-to-the-parlor price tag is perfect for my little wallet!

Thanks to my soon-to-be sister-in-law for sharing these with the boys!  Sure to be a big hit this summer!

*  Please, please, please, people.  Stop showing your cracked, dry, scaly, unpedicured toes in your sandals while the trees are still devoid of their leaves.  It’s enough to scare spring away.
